History and Specs ---Built in the Vic Francks yard in Seattle, Washington, Mariner was launched on December 7, 1941.
Designed by Edwin Monk Sr, she is a 47 long, 13 wide wood ketch, with 1 38 red cedar planking carvel over 2 x 2 bent oak frames on 10-inch centres.
Her spars are solid Sitka spruce.
She was built for Dr. Peter Schranz, a local Seattle dentist, who spent much of his time, with his dental-assistant wife, providing floating dental services up and down the BC and Alaskan coast to the isolated inlets and small communities that lacked these services.
She has been to Hawaii, Mexico and up and down the Pacific Northwest, and has been a live-aboard her entire life.
With five berths, two of which are double, she has a cozy and functional interior 6'4" headroom, and an engine room with storage and a small work area.
As the 5th owners of Mariner III her name changed when she was registered in Canada, and after 15 1/2 years of living aboard, we have decided it is time to pass along this historic vessel to the next owner.
We spent 2019 to 2023 doing a full refit of Mariner III full details upon request and she is ready to go sailing.
If live-aboard is of interest, a share in the marina would be available current value is 35,550 US - value is set by the membership and which you would get back if you left the marina at some point in the future.
The monthly moorage cost is just under 530 US, which includes use of the central 'lounge' building upstairs party room seats 14 for dinner or 55 standup with full kitchen, bbqs big screen tv.
Main floor includes showers, sauna, laundry.
High speed internet, water, hydro, septic, underground parking and mail delivery are also included.
It is an extremely affordable way to live in downtown Vancouver and did we mention on waterfront!
